The Legend's Take: A New Role for Latrell?
NRL Hall of Famer Cooper Cronk has dropped a bombshell, suggesting that Latrell Mitchell's position at Souths could be a game-changer for their season. But here's where it gets controversial... Cronk believes Mitchell's true impact lies not in the centres, but as an attacking force at five-eighth or fullback.
"When Latrell's on fire, he's an attacking powerhouse. With just ten touches in the centres, six of them carries, his impact is limited. But put him closer to the action, and you're talking about 20 to 30 touches a game!" Cronk explained.
And this is the part most people miss: defensive struggles at five-eighth could be mitigated by Mitchell's ability to defend at centre while still playing the attacking role at five-eighth.
So, will we see Latrell Mitchell rewrite the playbook this season?
'Tough' Reality Check for Broncos' New Recruit
Jonah Pezet, the young gun playmaker, has signed a unique NRL deal, but he's been warned about the challenges ahead. Pezet will spend 2026 with the Eels before joining the Broncos long-term, filling the void left by retiring legend Adam Reynolds.
Pezet is stepping into some big boots, and the pressure is on. But with the right support and a year to prove himself at the Eels, can he rise to the challenge?
"He's confident, loud, and smart. Pezet has the potential to be a star, but the transition to the Broncos won't be easy," said Mitch Moses, who has high hopes for the young talent.
Broncos Star's Road to Recovery
Billy Walters, the Broncos utility, is on the mend and hoping to return to the field before Round 20. Walters missed the grand final win due to an ACL injury, but he's determined to help his team go back-to-back.
"It's been a tough road, but winning the comp last year and the desire to play in this year's grand final are my driving forces. I'm nearly halfway through rehab, and I can't wait to get back out there," Walters shared.
With the expanded benches, Walters faces a new challenge, and he's curious to see how coaches will adapt.
Kangaroos Captain's Urgent Call
Isaah Yeo, the Kangaroos captain, has a message for head office: "Hurry up and appoint Kevin Walters as the Australian coach!"
With the World Cup kicking off soon, Yeo believes Walters is the perfect fit, especially after his successful Ashes series win.
"We need time to plan and prepare. Kevin Walters brought the group together on short notice, and I believe he's the right man for the job. Let's get him appointed so he can start building our defense of the title!"
