Turkish Airlines, the esteemed national carrier of Türkiye, has joined forces with South African Airways, the proud flag bearer of South Africa, through a groundbreaking codeshare agreement. This partnership, set to take off on 1st March 2026, was sealed in Geneva by the top brass of both airlines - Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of Turkish Airlines, and Prof. John Lamola, CEO of South African Airways.
Under this agreement, Turkish Airlines will stamp its TK code on South African Airways flights, covering key African destinations like Johannesburg, Cape Town, and more. Conversely, South African Airways will place its SA code on select Turkish Airlines flights, connecting İstanbul to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and several European cities.
Prof. Ahmet Bolat emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating it as a pivotal step towards strengthening Turkish Airlines' presence in the African market and fostering deeper ties between Türkiye and South Africa. He highlighted the importance of sustainable partnerships that enhance connectivity and provide long-term value for their guests.
